A while back, Ben White challenged Johnnie Johnson’s boast of being the world’s strongest bodybuilder. On Saturday September 26, in front of a packed Mr. Olympia Expo audience, Jackson pulled out all the stops and wowed the crowds in a one on one with White to silence his critics and establish himself as the world’s strongest bodybuilder.
In the beginning, it appeared that White had some credence in his challenge, besting Jackson in the bench press with 573 lbs to Johnnie’s 523lbs. Not to be outdone, Jackson came back in round two during the deadlift round, astonishing the crowd and annihilating White by pulling up an astronomical 815 lbs to White’s 633 lbs.
To the astonishment of the audience, Johnnie pulled on the steel bar – it flexed from the humungous weight of the plates and as the crowd cheered, brought it to his finish point, leaving Ben in a cloud of chalk dust!
Stimulated by the hype and abundance of testosterone floating on stage, a challenge was issued. The White Rhino (identity to be released soon) emerged from the crowd and shouted out a challenge to the two competitors. He challenged that he himself was indeed the world’s strongest bodybuilder and would prove it in a three round event. As an offer to challenge at next year’s Olympia – this confident individual offered up his own personal vehicle, a Hummer, and a substantial cash amount. Needless to say, both athletes accepted.
In the meantime, Jackson shrugged the challenge, clutching his strongman championship belt and stating “I’ll be more than happy to take your Hummer!” to the crowd’s approval.
