Kai Greene dominates the pro line-up at the Arnold to claim his first Arnold’s victory. Photo by Gary Bartlett Saturday, March 7, 2009 bore witness to one of the most electrifying performances ever to grace the stage of a pro bodybuilding event. Capped with an unconventional, yet spectacular posing routine, Kai Greene turned, popped and flexed his way to the title – leaving an unforgettable mark in the history books of the 21st annual IFBB Arnold Classic. With that, he joined an elite class of pro champions that includes guys like three-time Arnold Classic winners Dexter Jackson and Flex Wheeler. As an induction reserved for true champions, a more befitting outcome there could not have been. Kai showed up with superb conditioning – his best to date. On display was a heavily-muscled physique with full, round muscle bellies and granite-like density. Every pose was executed to perfection – highlighted by crisp tie-ins, smooth aesthetic lines and sizzling detail. Although uncertainty was abound about whether or not Kai would be ready to take his place among the rest of the Arnold line-up, the rumors were quickly dispelled when the sweats came off and prejudging began. Coined ‘the best poser of all time’ by none other than Arnold himself, he nailed every pose, making each ‘callout’ appear effortless. In fact, he literally stood on his head to add the Best Poser award to his collection. In the end the right man was rewarded on this night, sending a clear message to all contenders at this year's Mr. Olympia that Kai Greene has definite plans to shake up Sin City this coming September! Is Dexter Jackson’s hopes of a repeat as the Sandow’s keeper in jeopardy? Only time will tell. One thing’s for sure – this year’s Olympia will be a showdown of epic proportions, and MuscleMag will be there to provide you with exclusive coverage!
